Go for Majestic French Windows

If you are constructing a new house in New York City, it is advised that you go in for French windows. The French window are called so because the origin relates to France. The French windows are large, allow plenty of air and sunlight into the house and have an arch at the top. A typical French window can easily allow a man to enter and exit from the same space. However, it is suggested that the window has grills from the safety point of view.

Next comes the panes of the window. You can go in for three options, including transparent glass, opaque wood and light metal. Normally, a majority of the people go in for opaque glass also. The advantages of having opaque glass for the French windows is that it allows penetration of sunlight and at the same time does not provider a clear view. In the olden days, the metal panes were being considered. In some regions experiencing extreme temperatures, wood is used as the window pane. Similarly, in areas with cool temperate climate, plain glass is used as the window pane. It is suggested that as much as possible, the window pane should be covered up. The sill of the window is another critical component. For windows located in the ground floor of the house, sills can be avoided due to practical reasons. However, it is suggested that homeowners go for window sills in the first floor of the property or in the subsequent floors. This is necessary from the aesthetic point of view as well as user friendliness. For instance, some households have the tendency to place flowering pots or ornamental plants on the window sill to enhance the beauty. If the flowering pots are placed in all the window sills of the first floor, they will add beauty to the property. However, these pots have to be watered regularly. Take care to ensure that the water does not leak from the pots negatively impacting the structure of the house. If at all you find that water is leaking from the pot, provide proper drainage facility.

For existing house, window replacing can be an expensive affair since it may involve completely rebuilding sectors of the wall. This is the case in houses constructed out of brick and mortar. However, it may not be the case in wood frame houses. If you are planning to rework the window of an existing house, it is suggested that you hire professional contractor since there is a need for a lot of planning. Work out the budget before taking up remodeling of the window. Freeze the design only after consulting the architect.
