The Fireplace and its functions
Fireplaces provide warmth during the cold days and they also have their aesthetic value. In the old times, families and communities gather around the fireplace for a conversation and to bond. Fireplace mantels were oftentimes an opportunity for the house’s architect to make a personal statement, so much like an artist’s signature on his masterpiece. In many places around the world, burning fires have been replaced by a cleaner and safer natural gas fueled furnaces and even electric fireplaces. These still serve to provide heat during winter and the storm months, but they are also a major component of a household’s budget due to the uncontrolled rise in petrol prices. Most new houses no longer have open fireplaces and are now using central heating. Old fireplaces are no longer used. Thankfully, there are prefabricated fireplaces which can be installed to homes which needs the elegance.
