What is fine carpentry?

When we talk about carpentry, we always think of hammers and saws. We think about building. But carpentry is more than that it is about making a functional artwork. Finish carpentry is about making the windows and doors work, and making the house look good.

Finish carpentry involves siding, decking and roofing. Finish carpenters are responsible for adding the finishing touches such as the moldings on the cabinets and trims on the rooms, doors and windows. They need to have an eye for proportion and detail and must learn to visualize the different steps that lead to the finished product. Finish carpentry is no longer just about sawing and nailing boards it is about adding the touches that will make the house look more comfortable and livable.
