Decorative Paint Finishes

Are you looking for ways to make your walls look more unique and lively? What can you do? For one, you can take advantage of decorative paint finishes available in the market today. Also called faux techniques, there are three types used by professional decorators to add that style and originality that homeowners love sponging, rag rolling and stenciling. These three involves almost the same process and the only difference is the way that finishing paint is applied. Generally, the first application will be an opaque base coat with an eggshell/satin sheen followed by different colors applied in a pattern. Flat paint is not a good basecoat since it is porous, but it can sometimes be used as a top coat.Latex or solvent-based paint can be used for decorative painting but you will need to choose one type only. Latex paint is easier to cleanup while alkyd paints have slower drying time.
